Songs from Bands we've seen together.
We have seen a few shows together.
We’ve mentioned before that our friendship began in the college radio station broadcast booth. We didn’t just host shows in adjacent time slots — we eventually hosted them together. What started as a shared frequency became a lifelong friendship. This playlist is a chronicle of the bands we experienced side by side.
Our first show, as best we can reconstruct, was Xmal Deutschland at Staches in Columbus, Ohio, likely in 1984. For context, their tour consisted of exactly three stops: Danceteria in New York, Music Machine in Los Angeles, and then — inexplicably — tiny Staches, to an almost nonexistent crowd. We recall they played three songs, wept, and departed the stage.
Our 1985 Cocteau Twins show drew local news attention for its sheer improbability. A band of their stature routing a tour through New York, L.A., and Columbus felt as wonderfully strange then as it does now. The footage features a handful of Columbus underground fixtures and the reason these Euro bands came here. Tim.

In retrospect, the 10,000 Maniacs show hasn’t aged particularly well for us. But a single regret across a lifetime of concerts together seems a remarkable ratio, however embarrassing the memory.
Our last shared show was M83 on July 18, 2009, at the Wex — a backstage performance we’ll let this fan video capture in our stead.

Since we live in different towns now it may be hard to see shows together again but we can always dream.
